Economic Development & Job Creation
Mark Herring understands that job creation is key to economic recovery. As our State Senator, he will continue to keep Virginia the "Best State for Business" in America by maintaining a business-friendly regulatory environment, make strategic investments in infrastructure and workforce development, and promote science and technology based industry to our region and the Commonwealth.
Transportation
Senator Herring's knowledge and experience with transportation and development issues have made him a leader in confronting our transportation problems in Northern Virginia. He has secured funding to widen Route 50, expand Battlefield Parkway, and improve traffic flow along Route 28 by replacing stoplights with new overpasses. He will continue to fight for our fair share of state transportation dollars and work to find a long-term, sustainable solution to the transportation crisis that is paralyzing our region.
Education
Education is the key to helping students achieve their full potential, ensure that our future economy remains strong, and helps to build a workforce that is prepared to compete successfully in a global economy. Senator Herring supports improving Virginia's public schools and universities by reducing class size, hiring and retaining the best and brightest teachers, and securing funding for new facilities and programs.
Government Efficiency & Fiscal Responsibility
Mark Herring will continue his efforts to expand transparency and accountability in government. He will also work to make sure that during tough economic times such as these, that government strives to live within its means just like hard-working Virginians and their families must do.
