Holiday Garlands for Senator Herring from the Loudoun Times-Mirror

As families gather this week for the holidays, we at the Times-Mirror extend our warmest wishes for a happy, safe and joyous season to all our readers and friends.

Since good ole’ St. Nick is polishing off his list of who’s been naughty and who’s been nice, we thought we’d take a timely hand in crafting our own such list based on recent events at the county, state and national level.

To wit: To those on our “nice” list, we bestow a holiday fir garland for good deeds, and a lump of black coal for those whose deeds managed to get St. Nick’s dander up and render him a bit less jolly with their folly.

Garlands for these worthy souls

State Sen. Mark Herring (D-Loudoun): Herring called the bluff of the state GOP chair, who alleged that there wasn’t a single member of the Democratic caucus who took up Gov. Bob McDonnell’s request for ideas on transportation solutions. When Herring furnished a letter dated Nov. 1 outlining no less than five possible solutions, the state GOP wound up with egg (nog?) on its face. Justly so.
